A New Dentistry Safe Patient Handling Device
Introducing the Versatilt . . . .
An Amazing Safe Patient Handling Device that offers a safe solution for the difficulties facing the wheelchair bound individual and dentistry needs provider.
The wheelchair bound patient offers a special challenge for dental personnel. Ideally, to properly treat this special care patient, they should be in a reclining position, which offers optimum access for dental care. The Versatilt allows the dental care provider to recline the patient in their own wheelchair, up to 65 degrees. It will also support up to 750 pounds. In the past, dental care providers had to lift the patient to the dental chair and at the end of the procedure, back to their wheelchair. This always presents the danger of injury to the patient and the dental care provider. Legal and monetary consequences can be an end result. Back injuries, in this scenario, are an inherent part of the job for dental and medical personnel. They can result in worker’s compensation claims and, more importantly, the possible loss of a valued member of the dental team.
Special Care Dentistry Patients Are Easlily Accommodated With The Versatilt
The Versatilt is designed to eliminate these issues. The patient need not leave their wheelchair. Our demonstration clearly conveys the simplicity and safety offered through use of the Versatilt.
The Versatilt folds to 18” and is easily moved for storage, though many dentists prefer to have it in a fixed position in its own operatory, or mounted in a mobile unit.
The Versatilt comes fully assembled and is easy to set up. When ready to receive a wheelchair patient it requires a space of only 36” X 60”. The lifting capacity is 750 pounds which easily adapts to most types of wheelchairs, including the automated models. Using the hand control, the operator reclines the wheelchair and patient up to a 65 degree angle, depending on the needs of the dental personnel. The dental care provider can move the required dental equipment into place for a safe, comfortable and less stressful procedure.
At the end of the procedure the operator, using the hand control, will return the patient to the upright position. The patient is then able to roll their wheelchair away from the Versatilt for an easy departure. The entire procedure is handled safely with no lifting, or discomfort to the patient.
The Needs For Safe Patient Handling Devices Are Rising In Dental Clinics
With the aging of the Baby Boomer generation, dentists will see an increase in wheelchair bound individuals seeking and demanding care that allows for the accommodation of their special needs. The Versatilt is an affordable answer.
This device is also very versatile in its use. It easily adapts to any environment in which a wheelchair is used. It is currently being used in adult care facilities, physical therapy, podiatric care clinics, dentist offices, dental schools and universities as well as private homes.
